What it is
Ponscan turns any barcode into a coin on Robinhood Chain. Every product in the world has a barcode. Each barcode can have exactly one coin.
The first person to scan a product and launch its coin keeps 50% of its trading fees, for life. Anyone can then buy and sell that coin, right here.
Launch from your phone
- Open Ponscan in your wallet's browser, or in Safari / Chrome.
- Tap Launch a coin and allow the camera.
- Point it at a barcode. We find the product for you.
- Check the name and ticker, pick an optional first buy, and confirm in your wallet.
Wallets that work: Robinhood Wallet, MetaMask, Rabby, Coinbase Wallet, and any wallet through WalletConnect. Your wallet will ask to add Robinhood Chain (chain id 4663) the first time.
Launch from a computer
No camera needed. On the launch page you can:
- Scan the QR code with your phone and finish there. The launch hands off to your phone.
- Upload a photo of the barcode.
- Use your webcam.
- Type the number printed under the bars.
One barcode, one coin
The coin's address is computed from the barcode digits (CREATE2, with the barcode as the salt). The same barcode always gives the same address.
So once a coin exists, the chain refuses a second one. Not our server, the contract itself. First launch wins, forever.
Every barcode is stored in one form (14 digits), so the EAN-13 and the UPC-A of the same product cannot become two coins.
Where the fees go
Every buy and every sell pays a 1% trade fee, taken in ETH.
- 50% goes to the wallet that launched the coin.
- 50% goes to the Ponscan treasury.
This split is written into the coin when it is created. Nobody can change it afterwards, not even us.
Fees add up on the factory contract under your address. Withdraw them any time from your wallet page: connect, tap your address, then My coins & earnings.
What a launch costs
- No launch fee.
- A network fee in ETH. On Robinhood Chain that is usually cents.
- An optional first buy of your own coin, in the same transaction. Skip it if you want.
Which products work
Any retail barcode: EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E and ITF-14. Food, drinks, cosmetics, books, gadgets.
We look the product up in Open Food Facts first, then UPCitemdb. Our shelf lists the most famous ones, but any valid barcode works.
Unknown barcode? You can still claim it by signing a message with your wallet. First claim wins. The coin can be launched by that wallet once a product database confirms the product.
Shop-only codes (weighed items, coupons) are not unique products and cannot get a coin.
How the price works
Every coin has 1,000,000,000 tokens, all in its own pool at launch. The price follows a constant product curve (x × y = k) with 1 virtual ETH on the ETH side, so the first buyer gets a fair start.
Buy and the price goes up. Sell and it goes down. The pool always has the ETH to pay sellers.
There is no migration. The coin trades in its own pool forever. That is what makes fees for life literal.

Risks
- Coins are speculative. Most go to zero. Only put in what you can lose.
- Earnings depend on people trading your coin. No trades, no fees.
- Transactions on a blockchain are final. A wrong address or a wrong click cannot be undone.
- You are responsible for the name, ticker and picture you launch.
- Smart contracts can have bugs. Use at your own risk.
